East Coast Vacay

The kids and I just had the most wonderful 10-day vacation on the East Coast with my family. Unfortunately, Scott was not able to come, but someone has to work, right? We started out with 5 days in Miami with my family, where both kids had a great time playing with their cousins, Richie and Cole. The motorized cars were a huge hit (although you can't really tell from the look on Curren's face!). Naturally, we logged plenty of beach and pool time as well in "Gramma's Ocean" and worked on our summer tans. Ok, we didn't really intend to work on our tans, but sunscreen can only accomplish so much.

After 5 days in Miami, Carrie and my mom joined us for a night flight up north to my Aunt Tina's new summer house on the beach in Madison, CT. It was heaven! The houses and weather were just perfect. I kept expecting to see Snow White and the 7 dwarfs appear from around the corner of one of the beautiful cottages there. We spent time walking (even Curren enjoyed the stroller rides), kayaking and even paddle-boarding (which was a little scary for me, knowing that I'd be falling into icy waters!). Amazingly, there were no capsizing incidents. Well, my cousin Libby did capsize once, but she was still half-way on the beach, so it doesn't count. :) After 5 glorious days there, we headed home. And let me tell you, traveling with Curren is not a pleasure. He is in full 2-year-old form!

So now we are home for July, except for my much anticipated girls' weekend on July 14th through 17th. Woo hoo! Then we head to Oregon for a week in early August. Again, the cooler temps will be much appreciated. It has been up to 105 here already! We are all in for a long, hot summer I fear...
