My poor neglected blog. It still says "Back to School" on the side! It's so hard to believe, but school will be out for my little kindergartener next week. I am not sure who is more sad about this, me or her! We have all loved the kindergarten experience so much, and are so sad to see it come to and end. It's so wonderful to witness kindergarten through your child's eyes; especially when she has developed such a love of learning and of school. And trust me, that feeling was NOT present in preschool. :)
Abbey remains the consumate girly-girl and is obsessed with anything American Girl (as seen with her doll above). This year she participated in girl scouts, reading club, Mad Science, and had a brief stint in soccer (which did not end well). It appears that my girl has inherited her mother's lack of athleticism. She was in dance for a while, but declared that she'd rather "do her own thing than do what the teacher says." Hmph. She has also learned to read, which has been incredible to watch. Hopefully that is another thing she will inherit from me: the love of a good book.
In other news, Curren is still adorable and smart as a whip. Yes, I'm allowed to brag on my blog. :) At 26 months, he knows all of his letters and their phonetic sounds, and can name the first letter in probably 20 words. He also can count to 10 and knows his numbers, as well as about half of the commonly found colors. And the best trick? He can spell his name! It's true! When I say this kid has a love of learning, I am not kidding. He sees and points out letters and numbers everywhere and is just a joy to be around.
This summer should be a fun one, with trips planned to Miami, Connecticut and Oregon to visit family (not including my much-anticipated girls' weekend in July. Woo hoo!). The rest of the kids' summer will be spent with a nanny in the mornings while I work, and probably at the pool in the afternoon. If last summer is any indication, both kids will be sick of swimming by August.
