Still Here, Still Waiting

Baby is not here yet...stinker! We went to the doctor yesterday for another ultrasound and non-stress test. The baby scored 6/8 on his ultrasound test. He didn't show us enough practice breathing to get a perfect score, but he did do it at least a little. The doctor and ultrasound tech think that he wasn't practicing his breathing b/c I hadn't eaten in like 5 hours and am still sick, so he's a little tired too. But he passed everything else, so he gets to stay in for a while longer. We've seen him do plenty of practice breathing on other ultrasound tests and he gets the hiccups regularly, so we know he can do it. He's just playing hard-to-get.

We'll go back to the doctor on Monday for yet another non-stress test and check up. Then we'll induce on the morning of March 5th (Thursday). I'm kind of bummed that we won't have the spontaneous labor experience we had with Abbey, but he needs to come out, so that's what we'll do.

In other news...today was my last Friday alone with Abbey and it was so wonderful. Fridays are the only day during the week that I don't work, and Abbey and I have always had such a great time doing things together this one day of the week. I was really hoping that it would go well, seeing as how it was our last Friday alone.

Thankfully, it was one of those days that makes you realize why you became a parent. You parents know what I'm talking about. The kind of day that is tantrum free and relaxed and filled with snuggles and kisses.

We went to the park with friends, went to Pottery Barn Kids (her favorite place to play) and then she napped (gasp!). We also went to the store to get Star Wars balloons for Scott's b-day and made him an apple pie while pretending to be Snow White. After baking the pie, she decided that she wanted to go somewhere fancy for daddy's birthday, so we painted her tips and toes and picked out a nice dress. She was even good at dinner!

I think Scott's best present of the day was watching her play with some big kids she'd never met before. When we left the restaurant, there was a group of about 6 kids, ages 6-12, playing Star Wars tag on the lawn in front of the restaurant. Abbey marched right up and told them her name and said she wanted to play with them. Our little leader. :)

My favorite part of the day was at dinner when Abbey watched Scott get up from the table and turned to me to say "he's so handsome." Yup. The girl's got taste!
